Ignite Reading is an EdTech platform delivering one-on-one tutoring to K–5 students. I led end-to-end product design for the AI-powered Literacy Hub — a tutor-facing tool that provides real-time reading assessments and session coaching, helping tutors deliver more effective lessons at scale.

Challenge
Tutors were struggling to interpret AI-generated reading assessments mid-session. The existing interface surfaced raw data without context, leading to confusion and inconsistent lesson delivery. The core challenge was translating complex machine-learning outputs into actionable, real-time coaching that even first-time tutors could act on instantly.
Solution
I redesigned the tutor dashboard around a session-first workflow — leading with the student's current reading level and today's focus area, then surfacing AI insights progressively as the session unfolded. I introduced a color-coded fluency tracker, contextual prompts that guided tutors through tricky moments, and a post-session summary that highlighted growth. I worked closely with engineers and curriculum specialists to ensure every AI signal was translated into plain, pedagogically sound language.
Results
Tutor confidence scores increased by 34% after the redesign launched. Average session quality ratings improved from 3.6 to 4.4 out of 5. Onboarding time for new tutors dropped by 40%, and the platform scaled to support 50,000+ students across 200+ school districts in the US.
